Calvin Harris Heatstroke REVIEW

Posted on Posted in Music, Uncategorized

Scottish DJ and Producer extraordinaire, Calvin Harris is back with Heatstroke. Heatstroke is a groovy tune that should be giving eargasms especially as the weather heats up. Calvin Harris indicated he would drop 10 tracks in 2017 and this is the 2nd instalment. Heatstroke features a collection of differing artists in Young Thug, Ariana Grande and Pharrell Williams. Pharrell and Ariana provide the feel-good look but Young Thug makes the tune what it is. Summer 2017 should be lit and this tune will be banging in the whip with the top down.

Line-up

Star-studded line-up on Heatstroke – Ariana Grande, Calvin Harris, Pharrell and Thugga Thugga

It does appear that in Heatstroke it is a random line-up but I love it. Young Thug from the Hip Hop world, Ariana Grande from the Pop world and Pharrell Williams who produces in both. Young Thug knows how to come through with that infectious melody which was ever present in the latest Drizzy project – Drake More Life

Production

Harris produced the track and teased fans on his social media before officially releasing the track on March 28th.  It is a groovy record about how someone’s love sparks euphoria in their partner. Heatstroke sees background vocals from Starrah, an La based singer-songwriter who has featured on songs with The Weekend and Drake. Starrah co-wrote on Rihanna’s “Needed Me” as well as Kevin Gates “2 Phones.” Her pedigree is not weak out here! You may see a New Music Spotlight on her!

Starrah, LA up and coming singer, song-writer and rapper!

Lyrics

The chorus and the refrain make the tune sound very smooth on the ears. Pharrell and Young Thug share the chorus in great tandem

Release, let go, and have a good time
Have a good, have a good time, yeah
Have a good, have a good time

Release, let go, and have a good time
Have a good, have a good time, yeah
Have a good, have a good time

Pharrell and Ariana share the refrain, which adds another layer to the feel-good factor on the track.

When you do things like this
And you set me free
How can anyone get tired?
When you do things like this
And you set me free
I think I’ve just been inspired
Oh babe

Young Thug has two verses to add his unique twist on the unadulterated love bars just to add some clarity for the savages out there who like to hear about knocking down bitches. I mean that respectfully! He serves up two good verses with one or two memorable lines.

I’m just tryna turn up, tryna work something
Shawty suck the dick good, she wanna fuck it first
Hey mista, you a rat burn
Good hair down her back
Rich nigga, I like ’em ratchet
Fuck it up, throw it back
No shave, Brazilian wax

Yah Yah. His love interest is staying on her job. Despite the new found riches Thug still likes to be with ghetto-ass girls. That may not be my thoughts but as long as it sounds hot on the reccid I can groove to it.

Rating

8/10.

Thug shone on this reccid and influenced the 8 rating in my opinion. Hearing his unique melody in the presence of the two other artists sounded wonderful. Feel-good music and this tune is catchy as fuck. We all just want to have a good time and with this tune in rotation it is impossible not to.

Calvin Harris is turning up in 2017 and Heatstroke did not disappoint.
